Q »

What example do we find in the Tower of Babel?

A »

The Tower of Babel provides a more than obvious object lesson for the missions mandate, or ‘Go and Tell’ model. The directive to Adam was to fill the earth, to spread out. However, in Genesis 11, men have joined forces to build a tower to the heavens, to “build up” and make a name for themselves. God judged their efforts, confounded their languages and divided them into the 70 language groups found in Genesis 10.

The call is to reach out and that will not change. When we build things – buildings, organizations, etc. – for the sake of reaching the world, we are less than obedient concerning the clear intentions of the Scriptures.
