What does Jesus say about missions?

A »

The words of Jesus to us are clear on missions. In each of the four Gospels and the Book of Acts, we find a few final words from Jesus, before His ascension into heaven, and each of those leaves us with a mission’s directive. This is often referred to as The Great Commission, in which Jesus commissions all believers to reach the world.

Matthew 28:18-20 is the most comprehensive of the text and is often used as the key scripture, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Also read: Mark 16:15-18; Luke 24:46-49; John 20:21 and Acts 1:8.
